Dan has recently signed a record deal with London based independent record label "IRL", home to artists such as Damien Dempsey, The Wonderstuff and Sharon Shannon. A debut single is due for worldwide release on October 4th. The single "Running" will be available in shops and online at the usual websites. In order to promote the single, Dan will be joining his friend Mark Chadwick on his October tour heralding the release of Mark's debut solo album, "All The Pieces". All the dates are listed under GIG SCHEDULE 2010 right now.

Dan Donnelly will be releasing an E.P. this October, containing material from his long awaited, fourth album. The release will be on IRL records, a London based independent label that is home to artists such as fellow Irishman Damien Dempsey and English Alternative heros The Wonderstuff. Recorded in 811 studios with King Glover (Kooks,Ordinary Boys, Maccabees) the single is introspective and autobiographical with an upbeat americana folk feel. The title track "Running" is a depiction of Dan's life and how he came to be the traveling troubadour he is today. It chronicles his Belfast upbringing and emigration to New York whilst continually playing and never taking a rest. It is a deeply personal testimony of Dan's relationships along his path to the present day. The single will coincide with a tour of England supporting Mark Chadwick (Levellers) who is releasing his first solo album at the same time.

The new Dan Donnelly album is finished and the atrwork is almost done.
Now all that remains is to decide what to do with it.  There will be
no more Sonovagun moniker attached to the title, although a new band
is in the pipeline.  This time based in Devon.  There will be dates
coming non stop on this page all summer as the calendar is filling up
rapidly.  With summer upon us Dan will consider house parties again so
if you have an occasion in mind drop a line!!

Since returning from Dan has been busier than a bee with OCD. Themalbum is pretty much finished and there has been a tour with West Country folk hero Seth Lakeman.  The festival season is looming, kicking off with Bearded theory in mid may and then its gloves off for cider, tea tents and watching the Sun come up before going to bed. With the weather getting better Dan will be considering house parties once more. So if you see a date here near your house with a day off on either side get in touch and we'll make it happen.  Similarly if you book a festival or gig do not hesitate to get in touch.  HERE COMES TE SUMMER!!

Dan is currently in the southern hemisphere peddling his wares in New Zealand, however will to Britain in early March where he will be playing 2 London shows on the 6th (Gypsy Hill Residency) and the 13the (Supporting AMSTERDAM in Kilburn) The album is taking more and more shape with every recording session and its sounding fairly unique to say the least.  There are already a few confirmed Festivals ( Bearded Theory, Kingsbridge, IvyBridge) and a lot of offers on the table for the others that have to be firmed up as yet!  St. Patrick's day has been left free for a spot of bunburying in the Long Mynd with some musician mates as yet!! But there's plenty of new dates to look at!!!

Substantial inroads have been made into the recording of Dan's next
album throughout November and although he has been stuck in some
traffic on the highway of life this year, things are back on track.
December will see a short tour with Simon Friend (Levellers) and a
bunch of solo shows in both England and Ireland.  Recently having been short-listed for Critic's Choice award as best festival performance
last summer, alongside Lily Allen, Mercury Rev, ZZ Top and 37 other
acts , the process of booking next year's Summer festival performances next year has already begun.  Dan has agreed to a residency in London on the first Saturday of every month, except for March when he will be touring New Zealand.  There is little doubt that The next album will be released early next year and many of the songs Dan has been showcasing at his recent gigs will finally be available to purchase, download and burn for all yer mates.  Dan would like to extend his thanks to all you good good people who have supported him through another mental year. Have a happy and healthy Winter Season folks and here's hoping we all have a great 2010!!!

As Summer winds down and the madness subsides Dan has a few more festivals to play and then he REALLY is going to lay low and finish the new album. He will still be playing the odd recession beating house gig and may well appear in your local club pub or theater. But as many of you know there is a wealth of new songs itching to be recorded. Living in a car traveling at break neck speed for the summer has been a huge blast and Dan would like to extend a warm hearted thanks to all those new friends he met in the last few months. You know who you are!!

Dan has been rocketing all over the country in the White Hearse with his plastic Jesus as a co pilot. Occasionally joined by THE FOP
( bass player) or RANTING RITCHIE ( the only poet on the lonely planet) he has covered almost all of England and Ireland. In between his regular gigs he has been playing house parties in peoples gardens and living rooms. The shows have been a rip roaring success and he has converted peoples Mothers, Aunts, and Children in to die hard fans! The album is still not finished due to life being CRAZY but the new songs are being well received in theatres, pubs, front rooms and gardens. Upcoming highlights include a Bimble Inn show at Beautiful Days and a Slot at DukeBox in Belfast. There are some gigs in Holland on the Horizon and things are looking good in general!!!

Spring has sprung and Summer is here and the festival season is upon us. Look out for Dan in a tea tent near you this Summer. It's going to be a fairly low key Summer for Sonovagun but there will be a few unexpected festival appearances. The album is coming along slowly but surely and Dan has started to play a few of the tunes in his live set recently. There is finally going to be some London dates in the schedule too!! Dan is currently in Brighton recording for his next album that promises to have some pretty special guest appearances. Although this means the gig schedule for april is non-existant there are a bunch of gigs in may and a few more to be added in Ireland once they are 100% confirmed. These include a jaunt around with the infamous drunk in public. A big thank you is due to Duke Special who had Dan guest on his recent tour. A great time was had by all!!

Dan is STILL working on his next album due to a spot of traffic along the way. He will be relocating to Europe for a while to escape from the distractions of the Big Apple and buckle down. March will see a homecoming show in Belfast and a few gigs around Ireland with acclaimed artist and kindred spirit DUKE SPECIAL. Details can be found in the gig listings on the site.
